The president of Guinea-Bissau, Umaro Sissoco Embalo, will begin on the next Saturday a ‘’Friendship’’ visit to Mauritania, as confirmed by private sources to Sahara Medias.
This visit comes after the presence of the Mauritanian president, Mohamed O. Cheikh Ghazouani, to the celebrations marking the Independence Day in Guinea-Bissau in last September.
During that visit, Ould Ghazouani was warmly welcomed by the Bissau-Guinean president. The two presidents had supervised the signature of a cooperation agreement between the two countries in the commercial and industrial fields.
Umaro Sissoco Embalo was elected president of Guinea-Bissau in January of this year. He had already worked in the military institution of his country before starting a political career, in which he held many positions.
Embalo is endeavoring to lead comprehensive reforms in his country and to overcome the challenges and difficulties that his country has been witnessing for decades, which make it as one of the poorest countries in the world.
In Guinea-Bissau, there is a Mauritanian community, which is active in the field of trade and seasonal agriculture. Both countries have been enjoying strong relations for decades.
