Mauritania declares three-day mourning following the death of former president Sidi Ould Cheikh Abdallahi

The Mauritanian presidency of the republic declared, on Sunday night, three-day mourning throughout the national territory, following the death of Sidi Mohamed Ould Cheikh Abdallahi, former president of the republic.

The late died on Sunday night in Nouakchott following a heart attack.

Sidi Mohamed O. Cheikh Abdallahi, the seventh president in Mauritania’s history, ruled the country from April 19, 2008, to August 6, 2008, before being overthrown by a military coup.
