Mauritania: 136 new cases of Covi-19, Authorities warn of second wave

The Mauritanian Ministry of Health announced that it recorded Friday 136 new infections of Covid-19, including 37 cases in the hospital, 6 of which are in critical condition.

In its daily press conference, the ministry said that it recorded one case of death related to Covid-19, in addition to the recovery of 13 people during the last 24 hours.

The statistics point out that the latest cases of Covid-19 were distributed to seven different regions.

The percentage of positive tests out of the total number of tests reached 8%.

The Manager of public health, Sidi Ould Zahaf, declared that data ‘’ indicates that we are at the beginning of a new wave of the pandemic, we hope it will not be severe’’, he said

Ould Zahaf added that the situation is no longer related to different cases’’ but rather a curve that indicates an imminent new wave’’. He called for the necessity of caution and stressed that ‘’ the responsibility is immense on individuals and groups”.
